The Aquarena: pools, not weights
The City-run Geraldton Aquarena has an outdoor 50m pool, an indoor 25m lap pool, a leisure pool and a water slide. The indoor pool has 13 lanes heated to 26 degrees (Aquarena facilities). The outdoor pool, built in 1970, reopened on 13 October 2023 after a major upgrade, and it is not heated (refurbishment project). The indoor pools were closed for a ventilation refurbishment and reopened on 14 May 2026. There is an outdoor beach volleyball court too. We found no weights gym at the Aquarena.
Aqua classes for any age
The Aquarena runs aqua exercise group fitness classes, which the City says suit any age group or skill level. If you want a class but not a gym floor, start there. If you want both, a private gym with group classes covers the two.
Gentle gym at the QEII Centre
The City's QEII Seniors and Community Centre on Durlacher Street lists balance gym sessions among its activities for people of all abilities. Its March 2026 timetable showed free Over 50's Gentle Gym sessions on Wednesdays and Fridays. Timetables change, so check the current one. Ready for more after that? Ask a private gym:
