Gyms on the Gold Coast

The Gold Coast runs from Coomera to Coolangatta and over the border into Tweed Heads. Tell InterFit the kind of gym you want and we pass your enquiry to one local gym.

What to know about Gold Coast

A big market means you can be choosy

The Gold Coast - Tweed Heads urban area had 693,596 people at the 2021 Census. About 26.3% were aged 20 to 39, by our count. That is a lot of people and a lot of gyms chasing them. Use it. Shortlist three, visit each and walk away from any that rush you to sign.

Distance decides more than equipment does. On Census day, 62.8% of employed people drove to work. Put your shortlist on the route you already drive, or within a few minutes of home.

Council fitness centres

The City of Gold Coast runs its own fitness centres. Compare them with private gyms on the same terms.

Southport and Pimpama pair the gym with heated indoor and outdoor pools. Ask which of those a membership actually includes before you set it against a stand-alone gym.

Living in an apartment

In 2021, 21.1% of occupied private dwellings in the urban area were flats or apartments. A building gym room can cover a treadmill and some dumbbells. If you want racks, platforms and coaching, look at strength and conditioning studios instead.

Joining on either side of the border

Enquiries from both sides of the border are welcome, from Coomera down to Tweed Heads and Kingscliff. For gyms on the Queensland side, the membership agreement must be in writing, and you must get the chance to read it and the centre's rules before you sign anything (Queensland Government). If you join on the New South Wales side, ask for the terms in writing and read them just as closely.

  • Ask for the agreement and the centre rules before you hand over card details.
  • Find the minimum term and the cancellation steps.
  • Check whether classes or pool entry sit outside the base membership.

InterFit is a referral service, not a gym. Send one enquiry and we pass it to a single gym near you.

Gold Coast gym questions

Are there council-run gyms on the Gold Coast?

Yes. The City of Gold Coast lists fitness centres at Southport, Pimpama and Palm Beach. Each one has a gym with resistance machines and free weights.

Can I use InterFit from Tweed Heads or Kingscliff?

Yes. Enquiries from the New South Wales side are welcome. Give us your suburb and we pass your enquiry to one gym that serves it.

How do I compare a council centre with a private gym?

Line up the same three things for each: opening hours, what the membership covers and how you cancel. Then visit both at the time of day you would train.
