The council's centre is for swimmers
Gladstone Aquatic Centre is at 60 Tank Street, Gladstone Central. We found no council gym there or anywhere else in the region. The centre has a six-lane indoor heated 25m pool with ramp access and an outdoor aquatic play park. Its outdoor 50m pool is closed for now while the council works on a replacement (Gladstone Regional Council).
Two water programs use the 25m pool. Weekday mornings from 8am to 9am are a seniors hour with dedicated lanes. An aquafit program runs on Monday and Friday mornings, and funding criteria apply to it. Good for swimmers. For weights, you still need a gym.
A new pool at Boyne Island
The council has started building the Boyne Tannum Aquatic Centre at Boyne Island. Plans include an eight-lane, 50m outdoor heated pool with a retractable shade sail at the shallow end. Completion is expected by mid-2027. It is a pool under construction, not an open facility.
Renting? Ask about moving
At the 2021 Census, 39.2% of occupied homes in Gladstone were rented (ABS QuickStats). Leases end and people move across town. Before joining, ask:
- Can you transfer to another site?
- Can you suspend while you relocate?
- What happens if you leave the region?
Read the membership terms for the answer in writing.
Clubs and courts
The council counts over 25 multi-sport ovals and facilities for tennis, netball, hockey and squash in the region (Sport and Recreation). Playing a sport already? A strength and conditioning studio can build a program around your season.
We are an independent referral service. Your Gladstone enquiry goes to one gym or studio, and that business may pay InterFit for it. Ask for a match.
